2013 Eastern Polar Plunge & Dunkin' Donuts Super Plunge E-mail

The 5th Annual Eastern Polar Bear Plunge to benefit Special Olympics Pennsylvania (SOPA), presented by Dunkin’ Donuts and Aerotek, was held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Neshaminy State Park in Bensalem, PA.   Veteran sportscaster Michael Barkann and former Philadelphia Eagles standout linebacker Ike Reese from 94WIP’s The Mike and Ike Show helped to kick the event off.   In addition, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin attended the event to sign autographs and meet and greet plungers and spectators.  More than 600 plungers participated in the 5th Annual Polar Plunge raising nearly $170,000!

2013 Dunkin' Donuts Super Plunge

Sponsored by Dunkin’ Donuts, a group of 3 brave souls and 1 University Super Plunge team (raising $2,500 as a team) plunged into a freezing cold pool every hour for 24 hours to show their support of Special Olympics from Friday, February 15 - Saturday, February 16, 2013,12 noon until 12 noon.  Participants raised a minimum of $2,500 for the privilege of being called a “Super Plunger.”

The Super Plunge kicked off the 5th Annual Eastern Polar Plunge a week in advance as a way to bring awareness to the hundreds of brave individuals who will be “freezin’ for a reason” as they take the plunge into the cold waters Delaware River at Neshaminy State Park, 3401 State Road in Bensalem, PA on Saturday, September 23rd.

The Super Plunge raised nearly $25,000 in donations towards the Eastern Polar Plunge including a $15,000 event sponsorship from Dunkin' Donuts.
