Sheetz Store Opening and Check Presentation

On Thursday, August 12, 2010, several members of the community attended the Grand Opening of the Manor Township Sheetz as President and CEO Stan Sheetz introduced himself and presented the Pennsylvania Special Olympics with a check for $2,500.

President and CEO Stan Sheetz presents a $2,500 donation to Special Olympics Pennsylvania during the Grand Opening of the Sheetz in Manor Township.

Local Special Olympics Pennsylvania, Armstrong/Indiana County program athlete Nicole Ramer came prepared with a statement for Sheetz and other Special Olympics supporters. “Thank you Sheetz, so very much, for helping Special Olympics,” she said. “It means so much to me and all the other athletes to have a chance to participate in all of the different sports. To all of the officials, coaches, trainers, and all the volunteers that make this wonderful program possible: thank you, and may God bless each one of you for all you do for all of us.”

2010 National Games Supporters

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA), an official partner of Special Olympics North America, supported Special Olympics athletes across the country as they prepared for competition. In collaboration with the national partnership, two Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Pennsylvania companies adopted either several athletes or a sports team that competed in the National Games.

The generosity of these companies help Special Olympics Pennsylvania cover many costs associated with the participation of our Team PA athletes and coaches. It is businesses like these who support SOPA’s mission and allow our athletes to broaden their horizons and expectations both on and off the playing field.”

Team PA’s participation in The Special Olympics 2010 USA National Games was also made possible by continued support from US Airways and the Buncher Family Foundation.

 

2010 Temperace House Golf Outing

The Temperance House Restaurant located in Bucks County, owned by Pat and Carlene Deon, has hosted The Temperance House Annual Golf Outing benefiting Special Olympics Pennsylvania (SOPA), raising more than $150,000 over the past for 6 years.  Pat and Carlene have also been instrumental in garnering support for SOPA among their extensive network of associates and friends, and were recently inducted into the 2010 Special Olympics Pennsylvania Hall of Fame.

 

Sheetz and Gilbane Present Donations During Summer Games 2010

Sheetz, Special Olympics Pennsylvania's (SOPA) premier state-wide sponsor, and Gilbane, Inc.  presented larger-than-lifesize checks to SOPA during the 2010 Summer Games VIP Reception in State College, PA.

Sheetz presents their annual check in the amount of $150,000 to Special Olympics PA in support of its more than 20,000 athletes state-wide.  Pictured are Sheetz Executive VP of Marketing, Louie Sheetz;  Matthew Aaron, SOPA President and CEO; Buddy Casado, SOPA Board Member and Sheetz, VP of Transportation; and SOPA athletes who are a part of TEAM PA scheduled to attend the 2010 National Games in Nebraska from July 18 - 23. 2010 .

On Wednesday, June 9, 2010, Gilbane held its annual golf outing, which raises funds for Special Olympics Pennsylvania (SOPA) athletes.  Over the past 5 years, the outing has raised more than $250,000 for our mission.
