SUMMER GAMES - PENN STATE UNIVERSITY
The Special Olympics Pennsylvania Summer Games are held each year at Penn State University in State College. The event brings together over 2,000 athletes and 700 coaches from across the state. Our largest event of the year, Summer Games features three days of intense competition in aquatics, athletics, basketball, bowling, equestrian, golf, gymnastics, softball and tennis.
This event requires volunteers from around the state to serve as officials, athlete escorts, award presenters, and in various other ways.
Spectators are welcome to visit any of the competition venues and cheer on the athletes.
The 2008 Summer Games are scheduled for June 5 - 8th, 2008. For more information or to volunteer, you can also visit www.sopasummergames.org or send an email to: volunteer@sopasummergames.org

"Special Olympics became a part of my life and immediately motivated me because in high school I competed in track and field. It felt good to get back into the sports I did when I was younger. I like the discipline, meeting new friends, traveling to places I've never been before, learning new things and new sports. I realize now there's nothing I can't accomplish, no obstacle that I can't handle or overcome, because Special Olympics has given me a new lease on life."
