Special Olympic Pennsylvania Honors 16 at Annual Leadership Awards Banquet

 

WHAT:             Special Olympics Pennsylvania (SOPA) will honor 16 individuals, groups and organizations from across the state for their outstanding contributions to the statewide program at its Annual Leadership Banquet.  The event is held in conjunction with the SOPA’s yearly Leadership Conference, designed to provide ongoing training, development and recognition for Special Olympics athletes and volunteers.

 

WHO:               Keynote Speaker Phil Martelli, Head Coach, St. Joe’s Hawks Men’s Basketball

                          Shelly Pierson, Kelly Horn (2003 Female Athlete of the Year) and Raymond Anderson, Special Olympic athletes, Global Messengers and Banquet Co-hosts

                          Over 200 volunteer coaches from Special Olympics Pennsylvania

DETAILS:        This event recognizes the exceptional commitment of Special Olympics Pennsylvania’s athletes, volunteers, supporters and programs and attracts almost 400 attendees. 16 awards will be presented this year, including SOPA Program of the Year, SOPA Coach of the Year, and SOPA Male and Female Athletes of the Year. Keynote speaker and award-winning coach, Phil Martelli, will draw upon his professional coaching experience to deliver SOPA’s volunteer coaches, the focus of this year’s conference, a uplifting and inspiration message.
