Sport History 

Athletics was an event at the first Special Olympics International Games held in Chicago, Illinois in 1968.  Athletics Training Season is usually from March to June.  More then 12,000 Special Olympic athletes train in athletics and 183 volunteers are certified coaches in Pennsylvania.
