Multi-Sports Training Camp

Camp History

In 1978, Ken and Anthony Yazge met with then President Frank Dean to see how their church could benefit the athletes of Special Olympics.  The creation of a week-long sports training camp that stemmed from that meeting has lasted longer than any other event at SOPA save the Summer Games.

Facts

  • Funding for the Special Olympics Multi-Sports Training Camp comes from the NAC (North American Council) Teen SOYO.  SOYO stands for the Society of Orthodox Youth Organizations.
  • No camper, coach, or local program needs to pay any registration fee to attend.
  • Camp provides intensive training program for Special Olympics athletes across the state.  Must be 12 years of age or older.
