Concussion Awareness and Safety Recognition Training
All new coaches must complete Concussion Training, Protective Behaviors, and General Orientation prior to assuming coaching duties. Approved Concussion Awareness and Safety Recognition Courses can be found on the Concussion Training page of the SOPA website.

REMINDERS:  

  • Concussion Awareness and Safety Recognition Training is available online and free of charge.
  • All new coaches should be completing Concussion Awareness Training before assuming coaching duties along with General Orientation and Protective Behaviors.
  • Certificates of completion for Concussion Training must be sent to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. in order to receive credit for the course.
  • Coaches who have not completed Concussion Awareness and Safety Recognition Training will be ineligible to coach in any capacity.
  • Concussion Awareness and Safety Recognition Training can be used for Continuing Education once every nine (9) years.
  • In order to use Concussion Training for Continuing Education, a Continuing Education Sports Training Application must be turned in with the Concussion Training Certificate.
  • This adopted policy is in keeping of Special Olympics on-going efforts to ensure the health and safety of all Special Olympics participants. All Special Olympics participants should remember that safety comes first and should take reasonable steps to help minimize the risks for concussion or other serious brain injuries.
