Flag Football Championship

Special Olympics Pennsylvania athletes from throughout the Delaware Valley traveled to South Philadelphia on November 17th to participate in the Flag Football Championships, hosted by the Philadelphia Eagles at the NovaCare Complex.

Unified teams from Delaware, Montgomery and Chester Counties competed at the event, while traditional teams from Bucks, Chester, Monroe, Montgomery and Philadelphia put their skills to the test. The teams from Montgomery and Delaware County took home the gold medal in their respective brackets after winning both of their games in the afternoon.

Philadelphia comedian and radio personality Joe Conklin emceed the Opening Ceremony, during which members of the Philadelphia Police Department and Philadelphia’s flag football team presented the Flame of Hope to the crowd. Among members of the Philadelphia Police Department in attendance to help kick off the championships was Deputy Police Commissioner Dennis Wilson.

The Philadelphia Eagles, a proud partner of Special Olympics Pennsylvania, provided an incredible atmosphere in which to play the games and gifted all the athletes with Eagles water bottles.
